Clare Hutchison Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
Providing emotional support for children, adolescents and their families.

About me
Hi, I’m Clare. I have worked with many young people, and something I really love is how they all have their own way of sharing what matters to them. Some talk things through, others express themselves through art, movement, or quieter moments. My role is to tune in and meet you where you’re at, so therapy can feel like a space that is genuinely yours — where you can be heard and understood without pressure.
Often, there’s something difficult that leads someone to therapy — maybe things feel overwhelming, confusing, or hard to put into words. These feelings are a normal part of being human, and they deserve space and care. Together, we’ll explore what’s been happening and find ways to navigate it that feel manageable and real for you.
Therapy isn’t only about focusing on the hard stuff; it’s also about recognising the strengths, creativity, and resilience that are part of who you are, even when they’ve been overshadowed by everything else. At your pace, we’ll work together to make sense of things and find new ways forward.

With warmth, empathy, and a non-judgemental approach, I offer a safe space where young people can talk, create, reflect, or just be themselves. My aim is to help them build self-awareness, grow in confidence, and find ways to make sense of what they’re experiencing. In sessions, I work alongside them as a curious guide — exploring challenges together, helping untangle tricky feelings, and supporting new perspectives to emerge.
As an integrative therapist, I use different approaches depending on what feels right for each person. Creative activities like painting, drawing, storytelling, or sand tray work can help express thoughts and feelings that might be hard to put into words. I also pay attention to symbols, metaphors, and the things left unsaid, as these often reveal what’s going on underneath. This helps us understand how their inner world connects to relationships and experiences beyond the therapy room.
Sometimes parents recognise that their child is struggling but feel that therapy may not be the right step yet. Parent coaching and support sessions provide a confidential space to explore concerns, make sense of what’s happening, and consider practical ways forward.
These sessions focus on supporting you to care for both yourself and your child. Informed by neuroscience and attachment theory, I help parents understand their child’s emotional experiences and behaviours, and develop strategies that can make a meaningful difference.
I work with parents of children experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, EBSA, and reduced self-esteem. My aim is to offer clarity, confidence, and practical tools to strengthen your connection with your child — recognising that you know them best.

Parents and Carers

Every child and young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. I offer a calm and compassionate space where feelings can be explored safely, and where families can find understanding and gentle guidance through life’s challenges. Therapy is a place to slow down, make sense of experiences, and discover new ways to grow and move forward together.
Therapeutic Group Facilitator
I work with schools and charities to deliver small, tailor-made therapeutic groups that provide a safe and supportive space for young people to share experiences, feel understood, and learn from one another.
Group work offers the added benefit of reducing isolation, building peer connection, and helping individuals recognise that they are not alone in their difficulties. Sessions are shaped around real-life themes such as friendships, being a young carer, family pressures, and managing stress or anxiety, supporting the development of emotional awareness, coping strategies, and resilience.
All groups are delivered within a clear, structured framework with strong boundaries and robust safeguarding throughout.

Therapy sessions and parent consultations are confidential. If a client or parent discloses information indicating that there is or was a significant risk to somebody’s safety or wellbeing, it may be necessary for me to share this information with relevant professionals. Wherever possible I will inform my clients and their parents before this happens.
I always find an age-appropriate way to explain my limits of confidentiality to children when we form a contract at the start of our work. This has looked like a game of guess who or hide and seek before now.
I receive regular clinical supervision to support my practice but clients’ personal details are always protected.
I am registered with ICO (The Information Comissioner’s Office) ref no. ZB640738 and will provide you with my data protection policy should we begin work together.
